The Firm, as currently structured, dates back to the end of the ‘70s, when it strengthened its focus on international law and particularly on tax planning by providing advice to individuals and companies as well as to sovereign governments. The advice for the governments of People’s Republic of China and Soviet Union was mostly intended to refine their regulations on joint ventures, free ports and foreign investments. In that framework, in 1987, the Firm has been in charge of executing the agreement between the National Academy of Sciences and Economics, founded by the Soviet Government, and Sogea – i.e. a Business Management School operating in Genoa – for a cooperation between them in terms of training courses to be held both in Italy and in the Soviet Union.

In 1985, the Milan office was opened, mostly dedicated to international activity.
In 1995, the Firm was joined by Antonio Uckmar, Victor’s son, mostly committed to international corporate law.

Antonio Uckmar has founded and directed the e-magazine "Uckmar Tax Digest", which participates in some projects for supply of services and in on-line tax databases and is involved in e-learning projects relating to international tax law.
The Firm has a well-structured team of professionals specializing in various branches of law and economics.

Many members of the Firm are teachers at Universities and Post-Graduate Institutes and are therefore invited to join Technical Commissions and even international organizations, such as: Commission on International Commercial Practices, Commission on Taxation, Commission on Customs and Trade Regulations in the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), Tax Court within the Business and Industry Advisory Committee (BIAC) at the OECD, Istituto Latino Americano de Derecho Tributario and World Trade Law Association.

The Firm is a member of the ACBGroup, a network of more than fifty associated professional associations sharing their knowledge through forums and communities of practice for the purpose of improving their offer of services to customers. Mutual integration among professional activities is therefore being carried on as a distinguishing mark of the Firm since its very beginning in its offices of   Genoa, Milan, Rome and, recently, Buenos Aires.
